NutrOcean Inc.

Rimouski Québec G5M 1W4
Web Address : www.nutrocean.com

President and CEO : Serge Bujold
Telephone : (450) 294-3418
Fax : (888) 428-4583
Email : serge.bujold@nutrocean.com

Company Profile :
NutrOcean is a mariculture company located on the shores of the Saint Lawrence estuary. The factory draws  water from deep in the sea She  uses exclusive technology developed at the Institut des sciences de la mer de Rimouski (ISMER) of the University of Quebec at Rimouski (UQAR).  This allows contaminant-free cultures with no added chemical products. NutrOcean is presently completing the implementation of new factory which will substantially increase its production capacity. NutrOcean microalgae are natural and organic, and their production has no negative effects on the environment.

Business Model:
NutrOcean produces and markets many products composed of high quality marine microalgae to supply both the micro algal feed market (aquariums, research institutions and fish hatcheries) and the biotechnology market.

Marine microalgae are at the start of the food chain in marine ecosystems and are recognized as a high-quality food source for shellfish larvae and for the production of zooplankton in marine finfish farming, particularly when fresh. They are also increasingly in demand as a source of ingredients for biotechnology products. Microalgae are the only marine organisms that actually synthesize omega-3-rich lipids, rather than getting them from their diet. In contrast, fish accumulate omega-3 lipids by feeding on smaller organisms in the food chain up to microalgae.

Current Partners:
Government and public agencies are subsidising research. Financial partners are  ISMER(UQAR), le Fonds Soutien Bas-Saint-Laurent, la SODIM, Canada Economic Development, National Bank of Canada and MAPAQ. Many industrial partners already use NutrOcean’s products as input to the manufacture their finished products.
